You can ask us to delete your SharePass account and the personal information we hold about you, at any time and whether you use the mobile app, the browser extension or the website. This page explains how to ask, what is deleted, and what we have to keep.
How to ask
Email legal@sharepass.com from the address your account uses, with Delete my account as the subject. That is the only thing we need: the request has to come from the account’s own address so that we know it is you.
If you can no longer use that address, write from any address and tell us which account you mean. We will ask you for something that shows the account is yours before we delete anything.
We answer within 5 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days of confirming the request.
What is deleted
Deleting your account removes:
- your sign-in credentials, so the account can no longer be used;
- your profile: name, email address, account identifier, and the settings attached to it;
- your labels, templates, webhooks and registered security keys;
- any secrets and envelopes you still had open, along with the files, photos and voice notes inside them.
The contents of your secrets were encrypted on your device before they ever reached us, with a key that travels in the link and never touches our servers. We could not read them while the account existed, and what we delete is the encrypted copy.
What we keep, and for how long
Two things outlive the account:
- Access logs. The record of when a link was opened, and from which IP address, is kept while it is needed to show senders who opened their links and to investigate security incidents. It is de-identified once your account is gone.
- Billing records. Invoices and payment records for paid plans are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires, which is seven years. We are not allowed to delete them sooner.
Backups are not searched individually. Anything deleted disappears from them as they are rotated, within 90 days.
If your account belongs to an organisation
Accounts created by an employer are managed by that organisation’s administrator, who can remove them from the admin portal. Write to us anyway if you would rather deal with us directly, and we will tell you who administers your account.
Deleting your own account does not delete the organisation. An administrator who wants the whole organisation and everyone in it removed should say so in the request.
Paid plans
Cancel your subscription before asking for deletion, so that nothing is charged again. You can do it from the admin portal at any time; our Refund Policy explains what happens to the period you have already paid for.
More information
What we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy. It also covers the other rights you have over your information, including asking for a copy of it. For anything else, contact us or write to legal@sharepass.com.
